Our dogs are a part of our family. They each have their own personality! Dusty, Bella, Karma amd Radd like to be inside while Lucy, Cleo, Desi and Paige prefer the good ole outdoors. We have a special room for them where they sleep. They are all crate trained and have great sleeping patterns. I recommend crate traning your pet at least for the first year. It makes housebreaking so easy. It will also make your dog feel more secure. Dogs are den animals, they like to have something surrounding them to sleep. My dogs whine to go to bed at night.
Our dogs are on a regular routine every day. They are feed, put to bed, and gotten up at the same time. I highly suggest a regular routine for your dog. It will make them more secure and a happy companion. Cockers are people oriented and have to be included in the daily functions of your family.
We have just finished our indoor/outdoor runs for the plesasure of our cockers. The indoor run is 5'x5' and the outdoor run is 5'x10'. My oldest son Jonathan and I worked hard to get the runs finished. I rotate who is staying in the runs and who is upstairs with the family. The dogs are also taken out several times a day to run in the yard and chase squirrels. Bella and Paige are hunters and love to dig holes to look for chipmunks.
We spend several hours a day socializing our cockers. They are taught to walk on leads and how to act in the house. I do all my own grooming. This will usually take a whole day. They also enjoy car rides. I try to give each dog individual attention. Yes, I am very busy!!! All a dog wants is attention and companionship. A well behaved dog takes time and lots of attention, but once you are there it is so worth the effort!
My girls are pampered when expecting puppies. They stay inside for the most part after the first month of conception to help prepare them for their upcoming birth. They sleep in the same room with us so that I can listen for them in case they go in to labor during the night. They recieve lots of love and attention, plenty of belly rubs by all! The puppies are born and raised in our den. They are held and loved on a daily basis. They will be well socialized by the time they are in their new homes
